Benefits of washing and detailing your car regularly

  • Protects your paint: removing sand, dust and bird droppings early stops them from scratching or etching the paint in the heat.
  • Prevents rust and corrosion: clearing dirt and salt from the body and wheels helps stop long-term damage.
  • Keeps your car looking new: a clean, glossy finish makes your car look showroom-fresh every day.
  • Boosts resale value: well-kept paint and interiors can get you a much better price when you sell.
  • Safer driving: clean windows, mirrors and lights improve visibility, especially during dusty days.
  • Healthier interior: vacuuming and wiping surfaces removes dust, allergens and bacteria from the cabin.
  • Saves money: doing it at home costs far less than regular trips to a car wash.

What you'll need

  • Two buckets (one for soapy water, one for rinsing)
  • pH-neutral car shampoo
  • Microfiber wash mitt and drying towels
  • Wheel cleaner and a soft wheel brush
  • Spray wax or ceramic sealant
  • Interior cleaner and glass cleaner

Step 1: Wash in the shade, at the right time

In the UAE, wash early morning or evening. Direct sun dries soap and water too fast, leaving spots and streaks.

Step 2: Start with the wheels

Wheels are the dirtiest part of the car. Clean them first with a dedicated wheel cleaner so brake dust doesn't splash onto clean paint.

Step 3: Pre-rinse to remove sand and dust

Rinse the whole car thoroughly to lift loose sand. Rubbing sand into the paint is the number one cause of swirl marks.

Step 4: Use the two-bucket method

Dip your mitt in the soapy bucket, wash one panel from top to bottom, then rinse the mitt in the clean-water bucket before reloading with soap. This keeps dirt off your paint.

Step 5: Rinse and dry carefully

Rinse off all soap, then dry immediately with a clean, plush microfiber towel. Pat or glide gently, never scrub.

Step 6: Protect the paint

Finish with a spray wax or ceramic sealant for extra shine and protection against sun and dust.

Step 7: Refresh the interior

Vacuum carpets and seats, wipe down the dashboard with a UV-protectant cleaner, and clean the windows inside and out for a streak-free finish.
