UAE summers are brutal on cars. With temperatures regularly topping 45°C, intense UV and fine desert dust, your paint, interior and engine all take a beating. Here's how to keep your car looking and running its best all season.
1. Park in the shade (or cover up)
Direct sun fades paint and cracks dashboards. Use covered parking whenever you can, and a quality windshield sunshade or car cover when you can't.
2. Protect your paint
A good wax, sealant or ceramic coating adds a protective layer against UV rays, bird droppings and sand. Reapply wax every 4–6 weeks in summer, or invest in ceramic coating for long-lasting protection.
3. Wash smart, not in the midday sun
Washing in direct heat causes water spots and streaks. Wash early morning or evening, use a pH-neutral car shampoo, and dry with a soft microfiber towel.
4. Check your tyres regularly
Heat increases tyre pressure and the risk of blowouts. Check pressure weekly when tyres are cold, and inspect for cracks or uneven wear.
5. Look after your interior
Leather and plastics dry out and crack in the heat. Use a UV-protectant interior dressing and leather conditioner, and consider window tinting to keep cabin temperatures down.
6. Keep the AC and cooling system healthy
Your engine and AC work overtime in summer. Check coolant levels, replace the cabin air filter and get the AC serviced before peak heat.
7. Don't forget the battery
High temperatures shorten battery life. Keep terminals clean and get your battery tested if it's more than two years old.
